My elementary school students at Fundación Nuevo Mundo left me with tears of joy as they surprised me with a priceless farewell from Ecuador: bringing my story to life through theater. The costumes, pristine memorization of all dialogue, creative interpretation of staging, and overall sense of unconditional love and acceptance brought forth in this play makes it a cherished gift that will keep giving. Thank you, Fundación Nuevo Mundo, for providing me with the experience of a lifetime to teach in a school that envisions education as the staircase out of poverty and into reaching one’s fullest potential.
